Aspiring dabbler in all things creative

Christina Yang

Why do you do what you do?

In front end development, there's nothing better than the feeling of coming up with an insanely creative solution to a problem that moments ago you thought you could never solve. Getting over these hurdles is what inspires me to keep going and to challenge myself more each time.

Who or what inspires you?

Having worked in non-profit for most of my career, I have a soft spot for humble, honest projects and organizations. I try to volunteer when I can especially for organizations that help women and underrepresented communities in tech. One of my favorite non-profit organizations is Technovation which pairs female mentors with technical jobs to highschool girls who are interested in technology and entrepreneurship, bringing them start to finish through the creation of a mobile app. Being a mentor and seeing how students are empowered by making their first mobile app is one of the most inspiring things I've experienced first hand.

What are some unexpected facts about you?

When I started college, I auditioned and was accepted as a Classical Guitar Performance major. After realizing that my interests were not actually to be a performer, I ended up taking a random Computer Science class and was completely blown away by what you could do with code.

If you could try out any job for a day, what would it be?

I would like a job at the zoo where you get to take care of the otters and other non-vicious animals.
